Welcome Paula Pierron to the Team!
Paula joined the Energenecs team this past spring in the Aftermarket Services department. We asked Paula a few questions about her role and experience.
How would you describe your role at Energenecs?
I play many roles [laughs] and every day still brings new challenges. But basically I am our customer’s point of contact for our AMS (After Market Services) team. Among other things, I oversee the service calendar and facilitate scheduling, confirm appointments, order and stage parts, and most importantly follow up with our customers after a service call – I want to make sure that everything is complete and the customer is pleased with our services – admittedly I just started doing this, but the feedback is quite positive – we have some awesome techs 🙂
Where else have you worked?
I was in sales at Carlton Bates, a distributor of electronic and electromechanical components and automation controls. Carlton Bates’ parent company was Wesco which recently acquired Anixter, and many layoffs resulted from that. Anixter is a global distributor of communication and security products, electrical and electronic wire & cable.
What was the most interesting job you ever had?
I was an EMT-Intermediate, so I could do IVs (intravenous line) and administer some drugs.
An EMT-Intermediate focuses on providing life support at the scene of an accident or other emergency. They assess the situation, recognize a patient’s condition and provide the appropriate care. Accordingly, EMT-I controls patient bleeding, manages patients who are in shock and provides additional trauma support. They also provide defibrillation and spinal immobilization, as well as administering medication.
Because I’m from a small town, everyone knows everybody. So you do CPR and save a life, they’ll see me in town and thank me for saving them. But, that’s my job! I worked with the Port Washington Fire Department (FD), Belgium FD and Fredonia FD. I did that for 15 years, while I still had a full time job. It was mostly volunteer work. Unfortunately, I hurt my back and had knee replacement, so I could no longer kneel down, I couldn’t lift patients and had to give it up.
Seems like an incredibly difficult job
You have to be on your toes, that’s for sure. I loved it! That adrenaline rush was like no other. My pager would go off, and away I went with my red light on in my car to the station to get in the rig and go.
What do you do for fun?
I raise chickens! I’m out in the country, and I have about 60. Sometimes I name them! I have a whole bunch of breeds which lay different colored eggs including brown, cream, white, blue and green. I sell the eggs to a friend of mine who owns a bar and she wants 10 dozen per week. Also, my friends and people at Energenecs buy them off me. I’ll keep some of the eggs and incubate my own once a year. The chickens have two buildings with windows and electricity, to keep them warm in the winter.
