Meet Team Member Doralee Piering

Doralee Piering is the office coordinator at Energenecs and is responsible for making the office run smoothly. She has been at Energenecs for 17 years.

Where did you work prior to Energenecs?

I was working part time at a newspaper, creating ads and laying out the paper. I took the Energenecs job because it was a lot more challenging.

How has your job evolved?

I was hired as a part time sales assistant. There were two full time people that did the majority of the office work, like entering orders and assisting in the design and preparation of proposals with the sales team. When one of the people, who did a lot of the marketing, seminars and shows, left Energenecs, I took that over because of my experience. Part time went to full time.

Back then it wasn’t as automated as it is now. There were 20-25 people when I started, now we have around 40 after acquiring two companies. We never really had one person in the office that everyone could go to, and Jared (President of Energenecs) offered me the office coordinator position back in 2006.

How would you describe your job now?

My official role is office coordinator which means I’m responsible for making sure the office runs smoothly. From procuring plans and specifications from engineering firms, to working on million dollar proposals with the sales team, to the coordination of trade show logistics. I’ve enjoyed my relationships with Wisconsin Rural Water personnel, as well as being involved with editing and layout of the Clarifier journal for Wisconsin Wastewater Operators for many years. I also take care of Important things like coffee and toilet paper : )

Favorite parts of your job?

First, the variety, there is nothing like a typical day. Every day is interesting! Part of the reason I have been here so long is the people that I work with are really decent and fun plus I also like the water/wastewater industry. It’s an entertaining group, we socialize, have parties and summer picnics. Once we had a hat party for Christmas, everyone had to make your own hat. So the crafty people won, the un-crafty people, like me, did not.

It’s a very friendly work environment here. It’s enjoyable to work with sales team members (Larry, Brian, Steve, Bob & Trevor) who keep me on my toes, especially working on serious bids and proposals, everyone focuses on what needs to be done. Our sales staff is very good about chipping in and helping out because it’s a real technical effort to prepare some of the larger proposals.

What do you do for fun?

I am a huge Chicago Cubs and Bears fan! …just kidding. I do love the Packers and Badgers. I really like the cold weather and used to go winter camping in a tent. It’s very pretty and I find it calming to sit by the campfire with the snow gently falling. I also like hiking in Wisconsin’s glacial hills and the mountains in Arizona. I enjoy being outside in general… camping, boating, and kayaking, all that stuff!

So you are the one hoarding all the TP for the office! Now, how did I know that?

  2. Ron Dickrell

Doralee is such a pleasant and understanding person to work with on the editorial staff of the Clarifier, especially when we are running a little late to meet our deadline. I would definitely nominate her for Employee of the year or month or something nice! Thank you Energenecs for keeping her happy all these years!
