Meet Tim Reed, Inside Sales Rep
Tim joined Energenecs in May as an inside sales representative. An aftermarket sales rep typically handles the sales and support of parts, services, and solutions that customers need after the initial equipment purchase. This role is focused on maintaining and enhancing customer relationships by addressing ongoing operational needs and promoting additional products or upgrades that can improve performance or extend equipment life. We asked Tim about his role at Energenecs.
How would you describe your job on a day to day basis?
I work with our end users, technicians and vendors. We navigate a lot of different questions and challenges throughout the day. I enjoy the variety of the work I do each day.
What kind of attracted you to sales?
I spent over 30 years as a manufacturer’s representative / account manager, a role that gave me the opportunity to work with a wide range of customers and vendors in the hardware and mass merchant industry. For 25 of those years, I owned a company with my family. As a small agency I decided to merge our agency with a much larger agency based in Chicago. This transition opened up new opportunities and responsibilities, but it also came with significant travel demands, there were many long weeks of travel throughout the year, and while the work was rewarding, it also required a lot of time away from home.
When I started to explore new opportunities, a recruiter reached out to me about a position at Energenecs, and I was intrigued. I did my research, learning more about the company and when I finally interviewed with the team, I was impressed. Energenecs had a unique focus and direction that really resonated with me. I really liked the team and you could tell that everyone took real pride in the work they did.
Since joining Energenecs, I’ve found the work environment to be very enjoyable and fulfilling. The company has a great culture. We have a lot of fun at work, which makes a huge difference, and I’ve come to really appreciate the work-life balance I now have. It’s something that’s very important to me and my family, and I’m grateful to be part of such an upbeat and supportive team. Overall, my experience at Energenecs has been great, and I’m enjoying the work and the people I get to work with every day.
Do you have any time to do
anything beyond working?
I’ve always had a deep passion for photography, and I’ve made it a point to always have a camera handy. Over the years, I’ve photographed a wide range of subjects, but sports photography is where my true passion is. My daughter’s competitive equestrian events took me to places like Florida, Chicago, Wisconsin, and Minnesota, where I’d capture the action. Alongside that, I’ve also photographed IndyCar racing, and if you’re familiar with Elkhart Lake’s Road America, you’ll know I spend a lot of time there during the race season, capturing the Indy Car Racing along with the SuperBike Races and IMSA Races.
Photography has been a part of my life since high school and college when I served as the chief photographer for my college newspaper. I used to develop my own black and white photos in the darkroom, which really gave me a hands-on appreciation for the craft. As technology evolved, I transitioned to digital photography, and I’ve embraced the tools that come with it—particularly Adobe Photoshop, which I’m fluent in. The photo editing process has become just as much a part of my joy of photography as taking the shots themselves. I can easily spend hours perfecting an image, making adjustments to light, color, and composition. I love the way technology has transformed the process.
