Meet Scott Buettner, Operations-Production Manager

We recently caught up with Scott Buettner – Operations-Production Manager, to learn more about his role, background, and life outside of work.

Tell us about your role at Energenecs.

I’m the Operations Production Manager, so my main focus is on the production side of the business — things like scheduling, purchasing, and coordinating everything that goes into building and delivering our systems. I work closely with our project managers to ensure we stay on track with timelines, material availability, and scheduling.

A major part of my job right now is managing our transition to the new ERP system. It’s a robust system with great flexibility, and once fully implemented, it will really streamline how we manage production, contacts, and reporting across departments.

What’s your professional background?

Before joining Energenecs, I spent 17 years with a company called Macromatic Industrial Controls in Waukesha, where we manufactured industrial control components — some of which are actually used here at Energenecs. I already had connections to the water and wastewater market from that role. When I began exploring new opportunities, I recognized some of the same products I helped build on Energenecs’ website. I also knew Jerry Jordan from my previous career, so everything just clicked into place when I learned about the opening here.

Are you from the area?

Yes, I grew up in West Bend and still live there today, so it’s a nice short commute for me.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Every day is a little different, but I usually start by checking in with my team and making sure production is running smoothly. I manage the production schedule, coordinate with project managers, and handle any issues that come up with timing or materials. Supply chain challenges have mostly normalized now, though we still see an occasional long lead time item.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Most of my time outside work is spent with my family. My wife and I have three daughters — in second, seventh, and ninth grade — so our schedules are full! Two are into sports and one is involved in theater. Our oldest plays volleyball and recently started her first job, our youngest plays soccer, and our middle daughter performs in local theater productions. It’s a fun, sometimes hectic stage of life, but we love supporting them in everything they do.

Any hobbies for yourself?

Yes! I play in a cornhole league during the summer. My teammate and I actually just wrapped up our third first-place finish. It’s a fun way to unwind, see friends, and stay a little competitive!
