Welcome David Martens to the Energenecs Team!

David joined Energenecs in the fall in Fabrication alongside Joel Brill, in the Energenecs UL panel shop. David will be working on wiring and assembling custom water and wastewater control panels, All control panels and motor control centers are assembled and tested in the shop. Energenecs encourages clients to schedule a visit and learn what goes into an industrial or water/wastewater control system. Clients are always welcome to witness these tests because it has tremendous benefit to the projects to involve the end user in seeing the hardware, and participating in a software review meeting.

How did you get started in your career?

I always had my nose in projects my Dad was doing and have had that mechanical mindset from the get go! I started out as a journeyman electrician and worked on mostly commercial and industrial wiring. I was also doing the electrical for new buildings and new electrical centers.

A journeyman electrician is a trained, skilled, and adaptable tradesman. They have spent years under the direction of another journeyman or master electrician learning about the electrical trade. A journeyman can install and maintain multiple types of electrical systems found in facilities such as high rise condominiums, strip malls, schools, hospitals, wastewater and manufacturing industries. This includes installing and or replacing new motors and motor controlling equipment, heating equipment, and building automation systems that control the operation of all of a facility’s energy usage.

I also worked with plastics and molding machines, where I was troubleshooting, fixing and maintaining that equipment. After that I worked at an engine transmission manufacturing company, fixing their machines and transmissions.

I did a lot of troubleshooting of control panels in the past, which is helping me with assembly now. I like what I am doing and I’m finding out how incredibly precise Energenecs panels are! When you’re troubleshooting you don’t realize how much work goes into them to make them so organized. I appreciate how detail oriented Energenecs is.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I am a country boy that likes fishing and hunting. I go all over the state for fishing. But not ice fishing–I like to stay on the land. I stick to honey-do projects in the winter to take care of my wife’s stuff!
