Gary Dean Celebrates 33 Years at Energenecs
Gary celebrates 33 years at Energenecs!
We congratulated him on this impressive milestone and asked him about his many years at Energenecs in wastewater Aftermarket Sales. The Aftermarket Team is responsible for providing repairs, maintenance and consumables for water and wastewater equipment. Energenecs has original project files dating back to the late 1970s, which provides the Team with a valuable resource to better serve customers.
Can you explain what the wastewater aftermarket team covers?
Once the capital sales team, who are out on the road, have sold a piece of equipment, and after the warranty has passed, is when customers call the aftermarket team. When customers want replacement parts or service to keep their equipment running, they call this department. So we basically cover repairs, maintenance and consumables. Energenecs’ records go back to the late 1970’s, .
Do you work mainly with the Energenecs team or outside vendors?
I work with the Energenecs capital sales team when they get involved in a project and need my assistance, based on my background. They tap into my resources to help them out and get through the clutter, get the answers they need and get the job done. Most of the time the capital sales team works through an engineering firm and we try to get the best price out there for capital sales. All to make the engineer and the customer happy!
It’s a lot of calls, a lot of quick orders, and communication with many customers in the course of a day. It keeps you on your toes! You learn quite a bit from doing it for so many years. Because of the knowledge I have, I am able to get through issues in a very quick fashion. I know who to go to, to get things taken care of as quickly as possible, then go on to the next. I’ve developed that skill over the years.
What do you enjoy about your job?
I learn something new every day. That is part of the reason why I persist as long as I did because it’s not the same old repetitive thing, it’s lots of challenges!
What do you like to do for fun?
Recently we traveled with friends to their cottage up in Minnesota. We’ve been going up there every year for the past 30 years! It is on a thousand acre lake, like on Golden Pond. It is beautiful, just gorgeous, and the fishing is really good too for walleye and bass.
Do you have a big fish story?
[laughs] No, I’d like to have one, but I don’t!
