Nexom/EDI provides wide range of process solutions

In June 2020, EDI (Environmental Dynamics International) was acquired by KKR and XPV Water Partners with the intent to provide expanded nutrient management solutions for the wastewater industry. At an earlier date, this same team had also acquired Nexom and their family of innovative treatment technologies. Together the Nexom/EDI team provides Energenecs with a wide range of process solutions and services to offer our clients in Wisconsin, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Northern Illinois.

This includes Nexom’s BioPortz MBBR for BOD, ammonia and Total Nitrogen reduction in a small footprint.

bioportz
BioPortz™ technology works very well as a stand-alone process or as part of a larger process, such as an integrated fixed-film activated sludge (IFAS) process. But in both cases, the fundamentals of how it works are similar. Flow enters the fully-aerated tank and encounters the biofilm-coated media. Coarse effluent screens prevent the patented BioPortz media from leaving the tank. Depending on the configuration, multiple tanks in series can be used to meet low effluent requirements and/or address several different contaminants and nutrients.

Energenecs can also provide Nexom’s SAGR system for cold weather lagoon-based nitrification.

The SAGR consists of a clean stone bed that is fully aerated. In a typical configuration, water flows through the substrate horizontally, and a layer of insulating wood chips, mulch or shredded tires at the surface prevents ice formation in the bed, allowing the system to treat wastewater that is near freezing (<0.5°C). In many cases SAGR reduces the overall footprint of the lagoon system because the attached-growth environment allows for a higher concentration of helpful bacteria.

In addition, EDI’s tube, panel or disc diffuser systems in fixed grid, removable grid or lagoon configurations provide energy efficient and economical solutions to wastewater treatment. As always, EDI’s SiteWorks team provides a variety of services to keep your aeration system running at peak efficiency.
