Fastest SCADA Upgrade in History?

A city in west central Wisconsin needed an upgrade to their SCADA network which consisted of a wastewater treatment plant, a water filter plant, two wells, one reservoir, and three lift stations. The project required a comprehensive upgrade of the control scheme across all of these plant operations and needed to be completed in five and a half months. The aggressive timeline was driven by the requirements of their funding source. Energenecs and the Client knew upfront that this was a very aggressive timeline but were confident it was achievable if they were committed to moving with speed while ensuring a quality solution.

An early humorous conversation was an exchange between Brian Akason of Energenecs and the lead consulting engineer of the city for the project. The Lead Engineer inquired about submittals being done and Brian responded, “There will be no submittals on this project. In order to hit the target completion date for a project of this size and scope, we will need to move forward without the submittals. The Lead Engineer chuckled and agreed.

The project started with engineering, creating the interconnect drawings, procurement of equipment and preliminary programming with several meetings along the way. In the final stretch, the project ended with Energenecs SCADA technicians Tom Robarge, Craig Sampo and Jacob Hofman, working together nearly non-stop on-site, resulting in reaching the final completion date with a few days to spare!

The City Sewer Commission President commented “This project was phenomenal. I am very impressed with Energenecs and their level of customer service, quality, attention to detail, and the hectic schedule to accommodate our funding source. I would highly recommend Energenecs to any municipality”.
